Well that is rather troubling, you should not really be seeing any problems like that.

If you could tell us some more about the situation it might help identify the cause.
In particular the answers to the following should help:

  1. Do you have the specifications for the motors you are using?
  2. Is the spark a just small one or fairly large?
  3. Does it just spark on initial contact or does it keep sparking?
  4. Where does the smoke appear to be coming from?
  5. Does anything look damaged or burnt?
  6. Did you notice anything getting hot?

Could you also attach some pictures if possible.
The following is of the most interest:

  1. The wiring between the board and the battery / motors
  2. The board itself
  3. Any visible signs of damage, burns, etc

Hopefully the problem is not too serious, but I would recommend you avoid using the board for now until we can be sure it is not the culprit.

Well I bought a new sealed lead acid battery and it works fine now so no need ti worry thankyou for replying now next question how would I go about using the picobkrg reverse and another i2c chip which js the mpu6050 gyro accelerator chip thanks

Glad to hear your battery problem has been solved.

The PicoBorg Reverse has a daisy-chain header which you can use to get at the I2C signals.
Put simply the six pins are the same as the first six pins of the GPIO header on the Raspberry Pi.

The pins you will probably need are:

  • Pin 1: 3.3V
  • Pin 3: I2C data signal, SDA
  • Pin 5: I2C clock signal, SCL
  • Pin 6: Ground (0V)

The pins are labelled on this diagram:

Thank you very much I look forward to buying from you in the future
