PS3 Connection issues

Hi,

I have combed through the other PS3 connection thread issues and unfortunately I have hit a brick wall. I bought a controller which I thought was genuine, until I ran the "dmesg" command which showed it is a "SHANWAN" knockoff.

I have subsequently tried the older connection guide using the terminal, but I do not see the UUIDs of the controller. I get connected, I trust teh connection, but nothing works (I have tried rebooting and running the
"ls /dev/input/js*"command but to no avail).

i) Can you please advise on what to do next? and
ii) Do you have any recommended supplier where I can get genuine PS3 controllers? I am afraid the market is inundated with knock-offs.

Thanks!

i am not sure if this will help you or not, but this blog sounds promising: Setting up PS3 controllers on Retropie (Gasia/ Shanwan clones), make sure to read all of the pages. It is a bit involved, but if you can get the controller paired then all should be well :)

From our experience high street stores such as Argos and Tescos are reliable sources for things like PS3 controllers. This also comes with the added benefit of being able to take it back and complain if it turns out to be a knock-off!

If you do end up buying another controller I would recommend getting a PS4 controller instead. They are a bit pricey but they are much easier to sync (no sixpair needed) and they seem to be a bit more reliable.

Thank you for the suggestions. I ended up returning the PS3 controller and bought a PS4 one instead, and it works like a charm!

One suggestion could be to recommend the PS4 controller for all your products, that way the pairing issues etc could be avoided!

i got to same point today! have a Shanwan PS3 controller that just buzzed when plugged in.
Can you let me know how well the PS4 controller works before i spend £40 on one! I've a Monsterborg and want to start using it like a real RC car and hoping this will give me the experience,
