Upgrade to Thunderborg

Hi I have just bought a Thunderborg to replace a piborg Reverse that has died after many years.

I currently power my RPI from a USB Powerbank and my Reverse from an 8 x AA battery pack.

On the Reverse I had the 3 pin connector 5v5v0v connected to the RPI and the Powerbank powering the RPI.

Can I still do this with the Thunderborg or will this blow up something?

Obviously I could just power the RPI from the Thunderborg, but I would prefer to use the Powerbank if possible, but would probably need to have more batteries.

Many Thanks

If you want to power the Raspberry Pi separately then all you need to do is not connect the 5V pins. The ThunderBorg only needs four pins connected to work (3V3, GND, SDA, SCL), the 5V is only used to provide power to the Raspberry Pi.

If you do connect both the Powerbank and the 5V pins then nothing bad is likely to happen. Generally what happens is one device ends up supplying the power while the other one is not doing much, just not clear which one :)

Thanks for the quick reply, did not expect it at the weekend.
